Job Overview:


Seeking a talented Linux System Administrator to join a team of dedicated system professionals to help manage and optimize critical DoD IT systems.


In this role, you will have proactive engagement in the deployment, troubleshooting, and maintenance of essential infrastructure that supports enterprise-level applications for national security initiatives.

Key Role Responsibilities:


  • Play an active role in managing and maintaining IT system infrastructure, ensuring seamless operation across various platforms including servers, storage, and network components.

  • Serve as a technical escalation point, providing both Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network issues.

  • Actively monitor system performance, conduct problem identification, and implement solutions to ensure high availability and security for mission-critical systems.

  • Provide real-time status updates and escalate issues when necessary to senior management and internal stakeholders, ensuring efficient communication channels.

  • Perform system installations, upgrades, and configuration of both UNIX/Linux and Windows environments, ensuring optimal performance and system reliability through enhancements and patch management.

  • Collaborate closely with security personnel to maintain system compliance, particularly regarding system hardening and DoD standards.

 



Required Tech Skills/Experience:

 

  • 7+ years experience working with Linux Administration and troubleshooting

  • Familiarity with PowerShell and Bash scripting for automation and system enhancement

  • Knowledge and experience with system hardening, collaborating with Information System Security Officers (ISSOs) ensuring system compliance

  • DoD 8570 compliance with Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 1

  • Someone who is self-driven, innovative, forward-thinking, and willing to embrace and tackle solution challenges

  • Someone who enjoys brainstorming, presenting, and collaborating with teams/stakeholders to come up with scalable solutions

  • Someone who can leverage their Linux System knowledge and expertise to identify areas for improvement and contribute to concept discussions

  • A motivated and passionate Linux Administrator wanting and able to flex their expertise, contributing to a high priority project that comes with high-visibility among Lead System Engineers and Agency leaders

 

 


Degree / Experience Requirement:


  • Bachelor's degree, with 8+ years experience as a System Administrator/Engineer - (OR) - 13+ years of relevant professional experience, in lieu of a degree

 


 

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT:

MUST HAVE AN (ACTIVE) TOP SECRET/SCI W. FULL-SCOPE POLYGRAPH CLEARANCE

(NOT REQUIRED, but Desired):

 

  • A Linux System Administrator expert with system engineering experience

  • A Linux System Administrator experienced with cloud environments (AWS)

  • Experience implementing PowerShell and Bash scripting for automation and system enhancement

  • DoD 8570 compliance with Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 1

  • Experience with JIRA & Confluence

  • Experience presenting to leaders and stakeholders
